Change existing text
Click a line, type, press Enter. The words are replaced inside the page, in the original font where the font allows it, so the PDF stays searchable and does not gain a patch on top.
Click a line of text and retype it. The change is written into the PDF itself – it is not a text box laid over the old words. You can also fill in forms, sign, add images and reorder pages.

Click a line, type, press Enter. The words are replaced inside the page, in the original font where the font allows it, so the PDF stays searchable and does not gain a patch on top.
Form fields in the PDF become real input boxes. For forms without fields, type anywhere, set check marks, and draw, type or upload your signature.
Place new text, pictures, highlights, shapes and freehand drawings. Everything stays movable and resizable until you download, and every step can be undone.
Drag pages into a new order in the side panel. Rotate, duplicate or delete them, insert a blank page, or add the pages of a second PDF or an image.
Search the whole document, step through the hits and replace one or all of them. Useful for a changed name, date or reference number that appears on many pages.
Every change, including text edits and page operations, goes onto one undo history. Nothing is final until you download, and you can keep editing after that.
A PDF describes finished pages, not a document that flows like in a word processor. That sets limits for any PDF editor, including this one.
Your browser draws the pages and handles everything you place on top. Rewriting existing text needs a full PDF engine, so that part runs on our server: it finds the text you clicked in the page content, replaces it, and sends back the updated page. That is why a file has to be uploaded, and why the result is a normal PDF with real text instead of a picture of text.
Read the full explanation →It travels over an encrypted connection, is stored under a random name that only your browser knows, and is deleted 2 hours after your last activity – or at once when you choose “Delete my files now”. There are no accounts, and your documents are never shared with anyone.
All details about your files →The text is changed inside the PDF. When you click a line and retype it, our server rewrites that piece of text in the page itself. The old wording is gone from the file, and the new wording can be selected, searched and copied like any other text in the document. Tools such as “Add text”, “Whiteout” and “Highlight” work differently: they place new objects on top of the page.
Most PDFs only contain the letters that were actually used when the file was created. If you type a character the embedded font does not contain, a similar font has to be used for that piece of text, and the editor tells you when this happens. Line spacing and the rest of the page stay as they were.
A scan is a picture of a page, so there is no text to click on. You can still cover parts with “Whiteout”, type new text on top, add a signature, highlight, and reorder or delete pages. Recognising the text in a scan (OCR) is not part of this editor.
It is sent over an encrypted connection to our server, because that is where the text is rewritten. It is stored in a folder with a random name, is not looked at by anyone, and is deleted automatically 2 hours after you last worked on it. The “Delete my files now” entry in the editor menu removes it immediately.
No. A whiteout box covers what is underneath, but the covered text is still stored in the file and can be recovered. To get rid of text for good, click the text and delete it – that removes it from the page content. For legally required redaction, use a dedicated redaction tool and check the result.
Files up to 1024 MB are accepted. Long documents work; pages are drawn only when you scroll to them, and an edit updates just the page you changed.
No account and no payment. You open a PDF, edit it and download the result.
Yes, in any current browser. On small screens the page list is tucked behind a button and the toolbar scrolls sideways. Precise work, such as placing a signature exactly on a line, is easier with a mouse or a pen.
