Your files and privacy
Last reviewed on 6 October 2026
This page describes, in plain terms, what technically happens to a document you open in the editor. It is written from how the service is built, so it is specific rather than general.
Deleted after 2 hours
Counted from your last activity. Or at once, with “Delete my files now”.
No account
No sign-up. Your documents are never passed to the statistics or the consent service.
Processed on our own server
Your file is not passed on to another company for processing.
Why the file is uploaded at all
Your browser can display a PDF and let you place text, images and signatures on it without help. Rewriting the text that is already inside a PDF, moving pages and producing the final file needs a full PDF engine, and that engine runs on our server. So the document is uploaded when you open it. It is shown to you from your own device immediately; the upload runs in the background and usually takes a few seconds.
What is stored, where and for how long
| What | Where | How long |
|---|---|---|
| The PDF you opened and every edited version of it (one per text edit or page operation, which is how undo works) | On our server, in a folder with a random 32-character name | 2 hours after your last activity in the editor, then deleted automatically |
| Files you insert as extra pages | Same folder | Same |
| Files prepared for download | Same folder | 30 minutes, at most as long as the folder |
| Things you placed on pages but have not downloaded yet (added text, images, signatures, highlights), and form entries | In your browser only (its local database for this site) | Until you clear your browser’s site data |
| Signatures you chose to remember | In your browser only | Until you remove them in the signature dialog or clear site data |
| Web server log: IP address, time, the address requested (without file names), status code, browser type | On our server | 14 days, then rotated out |
“Activity” means working in the editor. While the editor is open in a visible tab it checks in every few minutes, so a document is not deleted under your hands. After you close the tab, the 2 hours start counting.
Who can access a document
A document can only be requested with its random name. That name is created by the server, is known to your browser, and appears in the address bar after the # sign so that a reload continues your session. Anyone you give that full address to can open the document until it is deleted, so do not share it unless that is what you want.
Uploaded files are not reachable by guessing a path, are not listed anywhere, and are not opened or read by a person. Software processes them only to carry out the action you asked for.
Transfers between your browser and the server are encrypted (HTTPS/TLS). On the server the files are stored as ordinary files until they are deleted; they are not additionally encrypted there.
Deleting right away
In the editor, open the three-dot menu and choose “Delete my files now”. The folder with all versions is removed from the server immediately, and the copy of your placed objects in your browser is removed as well. The download message also offers “Delete now”.
What we do not do
- No account, no email address, no payment details are asked for.
- No advertising and no social media buttons are loaded on this site. Fonts and the editor itself come from our own server.
- Documents are not used for any purpose other than the edit you request, and are not kept for training or statistics.
- The editor itself sets no cookies. It uses your browser’s local storage only for the things listed in the table above. The consent manager described below stores your consent choice.
Visitor statistics
To know how many people use the site and which pages they read, page views are counted with Plausible Analytics, running on our own statistics server (stats.converter.app). It uses no cookies and does not build profiles; it records the page address, the referring site, the browser type and the country derived from the IP address, without storing the IP address itself. Inside the editor, the address of your document after the # sign is never sent to it, and your files and their contents never are.
Consent manager
When you first visit, a consent dialog from InMobi Choice (loaded from cmp.inmobi.com) asks whether you agree to cookies and data processing by advertising partners. It stores your choice in a cookie in your browser. You can change your choice at any time with the “Privacy” button at the bottom of this page. The dialog and its partners never receive your documents.
Google Drive (optional)
If the start page offers “Open from Drive” and you use it, your browser connects to Google so you can pick a file. The access is limited to the file you choose, the access token stays in your browser, and the chosen file is then handled like any other upload. If you do not click that button, no connection to Google is made.
Limits of this page
This is a technical description of the service, not legal advice and not a contract. If you are bound by confidentiality rules, for example for medical, legal or personnel files, check whether uploading a document to an online service is permitted for you before you use any online editor.
